Do I have to be in shape to start CrossFit?

As a CrossFit coach, I often hear this question from people who are interested in getting started with us: “Do I have to be in shape to start CrossFit?” The simple answer is no, you don’t have to be in shape to start CrossFit. In fact, CrossFit is designed for people of all fitness levels, ages, and abilities.

We get it – CrossFit has a reputation for tough and intense workouts – when you first walk into a gym you might see athletes doing things that seem impossible or unattainable, but it’s important to remember that these athletes have likely been training for several years and have built their skill and strength up along the way. Chances are, that is NOT what they were able to do when they took their very first class.
